So claimed Charles Darwin in 1859 – and it’s a theory which, in 2003, inspired the name and philosophy of Darwin Airline, a regional carrier based at Lugano Airport, Switzerland. It operates scheduled domestic services and international services to Italy, France and the United Kingdom.

The airline was established on 23 August, 2003 and operations started on 28 July, 2004. Darwin Airline has 60 employees (March 2007).
