History

LAN's origins date back to 1929, when it was established as a state company with the objective of providing air transport service for passengers, cargo and mail. After 60 years of being run by the state, it became privatized in 1989. Thanks to its vast coverage network and strategic alliances, the company currently provides service to more than 70 international destinations within the Americas, Europe and the South Pacific.

Prior to its acquisition by LAN Airlines of Chile, the airline was known by its legal name, Aero 2000. LAN Argentina became an affiliate member of the Oneworld airline alliance on April 1, 2007. The airline is owned by LAN Airlines (49%) and Argentine investors (51%). It has won many awards.
