Hahn Air and Travelport take home “Best AirRail Distribution Solution” at GARA 2016

Hahn Air and Travelport (NYSE:TVPT), won “Best AirRail Distribution Solution” at the recent Global AirRail Alliance Awards in Helsinki. Hahn Air and Travelport contested with four nominees for the prestigious award in this category.
 
Hahn Air and Travelport won the award for developing an online simulator to assist agents in gaining hands-on experience in booking rail boarding passes for air/rail operators. Moreover, sales representatives promoting air/rail codeshare to travel agency customers can now easily demonstrate the boarding pass process ensuring greater clarity and ultimately increasing revenues for air and rail carriers.
 
The annual awards ceremony which takes place during the Global AirRail Conference is a programme built to recognise the efforts, best practices and results of the global air-rail community. Judges comprise of professionals in the air and rail industries who evaluate entries from all around the world in ten different categories. Winners are elected based on criteria such as service to customers, business results, innovation, communication and cooperation.
 
One judge described the collaboration between Hahn Air and Travelport as “an innovative approach to ensuring agents’ training and familiarisation, leading to improved experience and revenues.” Another member of the jury commented “It seems to provide passengers with a one stop solution for booking their rail ticket and their airline ticket in one go.”

Alexander Proschka, Head of Hahn Air Systems, attended the event on behalf of Hahn Air and accepted the award. Alexander said: “We are proud of our latest milestone as this signifies that the industry recognises our efforts in shaping the future of air and rail distribution.”
 
David Classey, Travelport’s Programme Delivery Director for Rail commented: “This is a fantastic achievement for all those at Travelport and Hahn Air who have worked on this new solution. By booking air and rail tickets together more effectively, agents can be more productive, increase their opportunities to upsell and grow their revenues. They can also give their customers an ever better service. We hope that our simulator demonstrates just how easy it is to book air and rail together and that agents and their customers will benefit as a result.”
 
Hahn Air is a German scheduled airline founded in 1994 and has specialised in distribution services for other airlines since 1999. Via the Hahn Air Systems’ product 5W-Rail&Shuttle, it enables 95,000 travel agencies in 190 markets to book rail and shuttle services with no GDS presence of their own under the reservation code 5W in their GDS.
