kulula to benefit from Hahn Air’s global distribution services

14 August 2015

South African airline kulula (MN) has signed an interline agreement with Hahn Air, the scheduled German airline and leading provider of distribution services for other airlines.

The world's largest company of its kind, Hahn Air covers 190 countries and cooperates with 300 air & rail partners and 95,000 travel agencies. Thanks to the new agreement, kulula can now sell its flights in secondary markets where they are not participating in the local settlement systems (BSPs, ARC in the US) and travel agents worldwide can issue kulula flights on the Hahn Air HR-169 document in Amadeus, Galileo and Sabre.

kulula.com is a privately-owned low-fare airline, operated by Comair Limited. kulula is IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) compliant and was recognised earlier this year by AirlineRatings.com as one of the top ten safest low-cost airlines for 2015. Since 2010, kulula has been rolling out its Boeing 737-800 (189 seats) fleet upgrade plan and operates more than 412 flights a week across 14 domestic routes.

Flights that can be issued on the HR-169 ticket are serving kulula's domestic destinations , including Cape Town (CPT), East London (ELS), George (GRJ), Lanseria (HLA) and Durban (DUR). kulula’s fleet consists of 10 Boeing 737.

“We are very pleased to welcome kulula to our partner network”, says Steve Knackstedt, Vice President of the Airline Business Group at Hahn Air. “Our services create a win-win situation for all parties involved: the airline benefits from additional passengers and additional revenue; the travel agents have access to additional carriers which they would otherwise not be able to sell; and the customer has a larger choice of routes and destinations.”

“We are looking forward to unlocking new markets and generating incremental revenue”, says Mr Brian Kitchin, Executive Manager, Sales and Distribution at kulula. “Thanks to the reduced complexity and cost-efficient distribution solution provided by Hahn Air, we are now able to take our business to a global level.”
